Island Donuts
When you're in St. Augustine, Florida, and the sun’s just beginning to rise over the Atlantic, there’s one spot that locals and early risers know is worth waking up for — Island Donuts. Tucked right along 400 A1A Beach Blvd, this cozy little breakfast gem opens its doors bright and early at 6:00 AM, every single day of the week. Whether you're heading to the beach, grabbing something sweet before work, or just looking for a good cup of coffee, this is where your day should begin.
Island Donuts isn’t just about donuts — although, let’s be honest, the donuts alone could carry this place. They’re fresh-made daily, pillowy soft, and finished with toppings that range from classic to creative. Think maple bacon, Fruity Pebbles, cinnamon sugar, chocolate drizzle — and that’s just scratching the surface. The variety rotates, which keeps things interesting. It’s one of those places where you almost feel like asking, “What’s new today?” before you even order.
Beyond the donuts, they’ve got really solid coffee — rich, smooth, and exactly what you need to kick off the morning. Pair that with one of their fresh-baked treats and you’ve got a breakfast that’s both quick and satisfying. It’s perfect for solo diners, people on the go, or anyone who prefers to ease into their morning in a laid-back, casual space.
Inside, the vibe is warm and welcoming. Island Donuts isn’t flashy or overly stylized — it doesn’t need to be. The focus is on what matters: great food, great coffee, and friendly service. There’s no table service, so you order at the counter, grab your goodies, and either hang out or take them with you. It’s quick, easy, and efficient — and somehow still personal. You’ll often catch the staff greeting regulars by name, remembering orders, or recommending a new donut flavor you “have to try.”
Take-out and delivery are both available, which is super convenient for locals who want to bring breakfast back home or to the office. Just keep in mind — same-day delivery isn’t an option, so it’s better to plan ahead if you’re going that route. For everyone else, walk-in service is smooth and moves fast, even when there’s a morning rush.
Accessibility is clearly a priority here. There’s a wheelchair-accessible entrance, toilet, and parking lot, making the space welcoming to all. And speaking of parking — there’s a free lot, which is a big win, especially in a beachside area where parking can often be a challenge.
They accept credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, so checkout is seamless no matter how you pay. Grab your donut, tap your phone, and you’re out the door.
Breakfast runs from open until early afternoon, with closing time at 1:00 PM sharp. So if you’re planning a visit, be sure to swing by in the morning — and honestly, the earlier, the better. It’s not uncommon for fan-favorite donuts to sell out before noon, especially on weekends.
It’s a great place for a quick visit or to just unwind for a few minutes over coffee. You don’t need to carve out hours of your day — just a few quiet moments, a warm donut in hand, and maybe some sea breeze if you grab a seat outside.
Island Donuts Reviews
First time here. Great selection of both bagels and of course donuts. A huge selection of unique donuts. Ordered my bagel and got to my hotel only to find my breakfast sandwich was missing the egg, cheese and sausage. So went back and the ladies there were great. This place has really good service. Left with a whole hot breakfast sandwich. Yum. Thank you ladies...you are the best. If you're anywhere here, try it. Enjoy!!!
Freshly made delicious donuts. I love how they have a variety of different kids ranging from old fashion, light and fluffy, and cream filled. The best one was the cream filled donut. Not only are the donuts are amazing, the coffee and the breakfast sandwiches are great! Overall, highly recommend.
Clean, quaint donut spot just a few minutes from downtown. 30+ varieties of donuts and a handful of bagel flavors to choose as your breakfast sandwich base. Bagel breakfast sandwiches were actually phenomenal. Donuts were surprisingly light and airy. Kind servers to top it off.
I make a point to come to Island Donuts each time I visit St Augustine. The donuts are fresh and unique. What I like most is that it's not so loaded down that you don't get any donut taste. The iced coffee is lovely. There's no donut place close to me that even compares! You can dine in or take it to go. There's a little patio area too.
I am truly obsessed with this place ! Every time we come to St.Augustine, I make sure I stop in after my morning sunrise walk on the beach. Their donuts are so delicious. You cannot just order one ! My little one ate her very first donut here. Ambiance is super cute but you better get there early or you won't have many donuts to choose from lol
